Meet Dr. Kent Do
Dr. Kent Do was raised in Orange County, California where he attended the University of California, Irvine and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. He then moved to Florida to attend dental school at Nova Southeastern University. In addition to assisting regularly at the pediatric dental department, Dr. Kent volunteered his time to nonprofit organizations and outreach programs that provided dental care to underserved communities.
After he earned his doctorate in Dental Medicine, he moved to New York to attend New York University College of Dentistry and obtain his specialty certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. While attending NYU, he received additional training at the Langone Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital, and Rose F. Kennedy Center, where he was provided with a solid foundation on delivering dental care to children with special needs. Additionally, he has earned a reputation for creating healthy smiles through his unique ability to relate to children and teenagers alike.
Dr. Kent’s practice philosophy is to promote preventive care and encourage families to develop a dental home. He is a certified pediatric dentist providing excellent dental care to children since 2001. Along with his membership to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Kent is also involved in the American Dental Association, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and Orange County Dental Society. Dr. Kent enjoys travelling and trying out new restaurants coupled with regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, namely his three nephews and niece who also reside in Southern California.
“Making the dental visit fun and comfortable for children is what I enjoy most about being a pediatric dentist. Most importantly, I find when we start children on the right path at an early age we can guide them towards a lifetime of pleasant and positive dental experiences.” – Dr. Kent

First Visit
The American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association recommends that your child be seen for their first dental visit by the time they reach one year old. Let your child’s first tooth remind you that it’s time for them to see Dr. Kent. Early prevention and education is crucial at this time. The first visit includes a review of your child’s medical and dental history and an initial examination. At this time, we will “count your child’s
teeth.” After a comprehensive examination, we will discuss our dental findings with you. Dental x-rays or “pictures,” if necessary are also taken to ensure a thorough examination followed by oral hygiene instruction to emphasize proper oral health care.
All aspects of a preventive dental health program including diet, hygiene and fluoride will also be discussed. It is always better to make a first dental appointment before your child has a dental problem. By establishing a dental home for your children, they are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care as they grow from infants through their teenage years. At South Coast Pediatric Dentistry, we encourage you to be an active member of your child’s oral health care.
Please print and fill out our new patient forms and bring them completed with your insurance card to your first appointment.
Smiles are contagious.
Our Focus is your child.
Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Kent is a pediatric dentist, specializing in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Through extra years of schooling, training, experience, and certification, a pediatric dentist like Dr. Kent is uniquely qualified to treat the dental needs of infants, children, adolescents, and those with special healthcare needs.
Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?
A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than an adult but also may have dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education. We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their ”cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.
Pediatric Dental Topics:
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry encourages parents and other care providers to help every child establish a dental home by 12 months of age. Establishing a dental home provides some key components to dental care for your child including...
• Comprehensive oral health care including acute care and preventive services.
• Individualized preventive dental health program based upon a caries-risk assessment.
• Anticipatory guidance regarding growth and development.
• Plan for acute dental trauma (emergencies).
• Dietary counseling.
• Referrals to dental specialists when care cannot directly be provided within the dental home.
• Referral at an age determined by patient, parent, and pediatric dentist.
