When to Expect Your Child’s Teeth to Come In
Your child’s baby teeth (also called primary teeth) play an important role in helping them chew, speak clearly, and smile confidently. They also hold space for adult teeth to grow in properly — one of many reasons why caring for baby teeth is so important!
The Timeline of Baby Teeth
Most babies start getting their first teeth around 6 months of age. By the time your child turns 3 years old, they’ll likely have a full set of 20 baby teeth. It’s perfectly normal for there to be small spaces between these teeth — this leaves room for adult teeth to come in later.
Growing Up and Growing New Teeth
As your child grows, their baby teeth will gradually fall out, making way for adult (permanent) teeth. This process usually begins around age 6 and continues through the early teen years.
